The other day in Priesthood meeting we were discussing parenting. It was kind of interesting because all of us in the room were past their prime of traditional “parenting.” Someone mentioned the 121st section of the Doctrine and Covenants where in verse 43 it says, “Reproving betimes with sharpness, when moved upon by the Holy Ghost; and then showing forth afterwards an increase of love toward him whom thou hast reproved, lest he esteem thee to be his enemy…” I considered my own experience with “reproving” and I can say that I was usually sharp but rarely moved upon by the Holy Ghost. I do remember on more than one occasion when my Father, while spanking me, said in all soberness, “This will hurt me more than it will hurt you.” You know, at the time I had my doubts but after considering the tender heart of my Dad, I believe he was speaking the truth. But without a doubt, I can say that my success in the process of parenting was assured when Dona agreed to be my partner. I’ve shown very little wisdom throughout my life but choosing her has been a crowning achievement. I’d be less than honest however if I didn’t admit that I had no conscious thought of such an outcome when we began dating, I was just attracted to a dang hot looking woman! In relation to that, I just recently asked her who was the most beautiful woman she has ever known and without hesitation, she said, “my Mom.” I knew she’d say that. I think she has inherited all her mother’s qualities. I wish I could remember who said it but some smart person (probably a general authority) said that the most important thing that a father can do for his children is to love their mother. Thanks Dona for making that so easy.

Agreed. And I have to disagree with mom, because if you ask me who the most beautiful woman in the world is, I say: my mother. I guess it gives me some hope that I do look a little like her.
Anyway, thanks for picking us such a great mom...we couldn't have done it better. And thanks to mom for being such a "dang hot woman," so that dad would choose you for the best mom in the whole wide world.
Happy Mother's Day
One thing is for sure.. I know that dad loves me...thanks Steve
Well, said, Dad.
Mom, the more into parenting I get, the more I realize how amazing you are.
And, Dad, I guess we'll get more into this at Father's Day, but you should give yourself some more credit. I can't recall a single time that you reproved when it wasn't called for, nor did you reprove beyond what was necessary.
Mom is a big sweetheart. Even on mother's day, we couldn't get her to sit down. She was the last to eat, first to clean up, and constantly playing with Angie or Tele or CJ--even when he was crying(where was his mom?) Wow. Amazing.
Hooray for mom! We are so lucky! In school I was always partnered up with the weirdos or in a group I wished I wasn't in. But I have to say I have always been glad to be in MY family. I got the best mom, the best dad, and awesome siblings. Now everyone is looking at me thinking, "Man, I wish I was in THAT family!" And a lot of that is because of you mom. Thanks for everything you have done and do(constantly) for me. Love ya!
Unfortunately for Daisy, I put Dona on a pedestal and hold Daisy to a high standard when it comes to being a wife and mother. Daisy is the best though because if I ask her to crack me open a cold one and she says no I ask her what her mom would do in this instance and she knows that Dona would get it and about 50% of the time she will do it just to be more like her mom. Dona is
